Privacy Policy
A plain, honest account of privacy at Sidhe Wolf: minimal analytics and cookies, no selling of your data, and how to make a request or ask a question.
This is a plain-language account of what Sidhe Wolf does and does not do with information about you. We have tried to write it the way we write everything else here: honestly, without hiding the substance in jargon. The short version is that we collect very little, we do not sell anything about you, and you can ask us about your data at any time.
What we collect
Like most websites, Sidhe Wolf collects a modest amount of information automatically when you visit — the kind of thing a web server and standard analytics record: pages viewed, roughly where in the world a visit came from, the type of device and browser, and how you arrived (for example, from a search engine or another site). We use this only to understand which articles are read and to keep the site working. We do not use it to build a personal profile of you.
If you email us — for a pitch, a correction, or any other reason — we receive whatever you put in that email, including your address, and we keep it only so we can correspond with you and keep track of corrections.
Cookies and analytics
We use cookies and similar technologies for basic site function and for privacy-conscious analytics that tell us how the site is used in aggregate. Where affiliate links are present, the retailer you click through to may set its own cookies once you leave our site; that is governed by their policies, not ours, and our affiliate disclosure explains how those links work. You can control or block cookies through your browser settings, and doing so will not stop you reading the site.
What we do not do
- We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to anyone. Ever.
- We do not build or buy personal profiles, and we do not combine data across sources to identify individuals.
- We do not put personal information into URLs, and we do not ask for sensitive personal data we have no reason to hold.
- We do not run a newsletter or account system that requires you to hand over data to read our work; the articles are simply there to read.
Third parties
Some ordinary infrastructure necessarily touches your visit: our web host, and whatever analytics and affiliate services we use. We keep these to a minimum and choose privacy-respecting options where we can. These providers process data on our behalf under their own policies; we do not authorise them to sell your information, and we do not do so ourselves.
Your choices and requests
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to see, correct, or delete personal information a site holds about you. Because we hold so little — essentially aggregate analytics and any emails you have sent us — such requests are usually simple to handle. To make one, or to ask any question about how your data is handled, write to us at [email protected] and we will respond. You can also ask us to stop corresponding with you at any time, and we will.
Children
Sidhe Wolf is a general-audience folklore and culture publication and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle data, we will update this page. Because our approach is deliberately minimal, we do not expect frequent changes; if a change is significant, we will make that clear here rather than quietly editing the fine print. If anything on this page is unclear, ask us — see our contact page — and we will explain it in plain terms.
