Affiliate Disclosure

Sidhe Wolf carries some affiliate links, and we would rather explain exactly how they work than bury a line of legalese in the footer. The short version: affiliate income helps pay for the site and for the artists and writers we want to commission, it never changes what we recommend, and it is disclosed up front on any article that contains it.

How affiliate links work

An affiliate link is a normal link with a tag that tells a retailer we sent you. If you buy something after clicking one, we may earn a small commission. It costs you nothing extra. That is the entire mechanism — there is no tracking beyond the retailer’s own, and no markup on your price.

What we link to

We only ever link to things that genuinely fit a folklore, art, and culture publication and that we would happily recommend without any commission at all:

• Books — scholarly editions, translations, folklore collections, and the primary and secondary sources we cite.
• Decks and card sets — where they are of cultural or artistic interest, presented as art and design, never as fortune-telling services or supernatural products.
• Décor and homeware — prints, textiles, and objects with a real connection to the traditions we cover.
• Art supplies — for readers who make things themselves.
• Apparel — including, where relevant, our own.

The firewall: money never moves a recommendation

This is the part that matters. What we recommend is decided on editorial grounds only. The existence of an affiliate programme, the size of a commission, or a retailer’s interest never determines whether we cover something, how we rate it, or where it appears in a piece. If the best translation of a text has no affiliate programme and a worse one does, we recommend the better one and link it however we can. Our editorial standards and independence apply here without exception. If a commission relationship ever conflicted with an honest recommendation, the recommendation wins and the link goes.

Where a piece contains affiliate links, a plain disclosure appears at the top, before the article, not hidden at the bottom. You should know a page carries affiliate links before you read it, not after. This page is the standing, detailed version of that notice.

What we refuse

Some money we will not take, because taking it would corrode the thing the site is for:

• Paid readings and psychic services. We do not sell, host, or earn commission from tarot readings, psychic services, spellwork-for-hire, or any paid supernatural service. We write about divination and belief as culture and history; we do not broker access to the otherworld.
• Health-claim products. No supplements, “healing” crystals sold on medical grounds, essential-oil cures, or anything marketed as treating a physical or mental condition. We make no health claims and we will not earn from anyone else’s.
• Paid guest posts, placements, and link insertions. We do not accept payment to publish an article, to insert a link into an existing one, or to run “sponsored” content dressed as editorial. See our contributor guidelines, which exist precisely to replace that kind of pipeline with a real one.

Where the money goes

We mention this because it explains why affiliate links exist here at all. Sidhe Wolf is not a hobby blog fishing for spare change; it is a publication that wants to pay artists for original illustration and writers for properly-sourced work, per our contributor guidelines. Affiliate commission — always modest, never guaranteed — is one of the few funding routes that does not compromise the site’s independence, precisely because it is tied to books and objects we would recommend anyway rather than to anyone buying influence over our judgement. If it ever earns anything meaningful, it goes back into commissioning real work from real people within these traditions.
